A community of parents and caregivers who come alongside our teachers, welcome every family who walks through our doors, and help build the kind of school we want our children to grow up in.

No experience needed! Only a willingness to say yes. Every role here can be learned in an afternoon.

No minimum commitment Serve once this year or once a week. Both matter, and neither comes with pressure to do more.

Every season welcome working parents, new families, grandparents, and caregivers all have a place here.

Ways to Serve

There are two ways to be part of PFR.

Take on an ongoing role with a regular rhythm, or sign up for individual events as your schedule allows.

Many families do both. Many families do one thing all year.

Both are a gift.

Ongoing roles

Room Parents A teacher's partner for the year. Three to four parents per classroom stay in close contact with the teacher, pass classroom news along to families, and help organize parties, celebrations, and classroom volunteers. A few hours a month · You're welcome to serve in more than one classroom!

Chapel Parents Greet students, help set out teacher name tags, and sit with students during the service. Chapel Parents also support special services such as Veterans Day Chapel and Mother's Day Chapel. One of the simplest ways to become a steady, familiar face in your child's week. 1–2 hours, Thursdays during the school year.

Moms in Prayer Moms gather to pray for our students, our teachers and staff, and our school. There is nothing to prepare and no requirement to pray aloud. Come as you are, alongside other moms who love Redeemer. Weekly, about an hour.

A time to connect — A relaxed start with other parents, and a chance to slow down and share life.

Faith-filled moments — Intentional time for prayer, worship, or a shared devotional.

Celebrating what God is doing — A staff member shares updates, answered prayers, and stories of impact.

Stay informed, get involved — School updates, calendar highlights, and the next ways to serve.

New Family Night: Thursday, August 27 · 5:30–7:30 PM Welcome guests at the door, pass out cookies, and staff the PFR table. [Sign up]
Chalk the Walk: Monday, August 31 · 3:30 PM30 · RCS Renton Campus sidewalks Bring a box of chalk and cover the walkways with names, Scripture, and encouragement. Children welcome.
Coffee & Connection: Wednesday–Friday, September 2–4 · 8:15–9:00 AM · Meet at the flagpole Pass out coffee and donuts and welcome families back for the first week of school.
PFR Kickoff & BBQ: Thursday, September 10 · 2:30–4:00 PM · Renton NL Church Lobby & Patio Food, community, and a look at the year ahead. The first time all of PFR is together.
Fun Fridays: Beginning Friday, September 11 · 2:00–3:30 PM · Events Office, first floor Weekly games and activities with our students to end the week well.
Picture Day Support: Tuesday, September 22 · Set up, walk classes to their sessions, and give students a quick once-over before the camera.
Move-A-Thon Prize Patrol: Monday, September 28 – Friday, October 9 · Daily Sort and organize prizes, then deliver them to classrooms. Help any day that works for you.

Do I have to be a PFR member to help with an event?

How much time does this really take?

I work full time. Is there a way to be involved?

I work full time. Is there a way to be involved? Yes, and we'd love to have you. Some of our best opportunities happen outside school hours — evening events like New Family Night and Chalk the Walk, and behind-the-scenes help such as organizing supplies, coordinating sign-ups, or contributing to teacher gifts. Tell us your availability on the form and we'll match you with something that actually fits.

Can I be a Room Parent for more than one of my children's classrooms?

Is childcare available at the monthly gatherings?

Do I need a background check just to attend an event?

Do I need a background check just to attend an event? Attending as a family doesn't require one. A background check is required for volunteers who work directly with students. Since results take one to two weeks, we recommend starting yours early even if you're not sure yet — it's free, it's good for two years, and it means you're ready whenever an opportunity comes up.
